Creative ways to display your fishing lures.
You've spent years collecting those prized antique fishing lures. Or, maybe you collect ice fishing lures. Or perhaps your passion is in collecting trout lures or muskie lures. The point is you have amassed a collection of fishing lures that would make any collector jealous. Now what? Leave them neatly packed away, preserving their beauty for generations to come? Well, many collectors do just that. But I say, what's the point in that? If no one every gets the chance to view, and enjoy your lure collection, why have them at all? Understandably, you want to take care of your collection. But you can enjoy it at the same time. Fishing lure displays come in various shapes and sizes. The most common type is obviously the standard glass covered display case. These are an excellent means of displaying larger groups of lures. But most of us have a few special lures that we are extra proud of. There are many common single lure display stands available, from acrylic stands to wooden stands. There are even several types of lure hanging trees. But all of these are basically utilitarian and for the most part, generic types of displays. Why not get creative with your lure display techniques. Most of us have broken the tips from countless fishing rods. Instead of throwing these broken tips away, why not use them for something? Have you ever thought of utilizing them in your lure collection? Take a few broken rod tips, a nicely finished piece of wood drilled to accommodate the rod tips, and you have yourself a very unique display stand that will show off some of your favorite lures in a very natural setting. If you don't have any tips lying around, you can always make the rounds on any given weekend to a few local garage sales and pick up some old fishing rods just for this purpose.
That's really all there is to it. Think of some unique method of covering your new display stand to keep your lures dust free. Maybe attach a tiny piece of driftwood to add detail. Get creative. No matter what you decide, get that fishing lure collection out and put it on display!
