Small, unweighted, gold spinner with an egg hook and a splitshot 1ft up the line. Tipped with a bit of worm threaded on the hook.
That’s all I really use anyways, for brookies! Steelhead I would choose #3 or #4 blue fox vibrax , pink with silver blade. For lake trout, a big flourescent perch coloured X-rap.
I have found that Whole Corn on a hook work pretty good for me. But, for a lure, I have done well with a Rooster Tail. Normally we make our own. Notice the weighted part in the center of the pic I show (Body)?http://www.landbigfish.com/images/store/…
We make something similar using plastic beads. It still have the spinner and tail, usually a regular hook in place of the treble.
A Panther Martin spinner they spin better and have more vibration than most all other spinners. I like a gold blade with a dark body for brown trout ,and a silver blade with a lighter body for rainbows, in a size 1 or 2 is great for decent sized trout
I would use a #7 floating Rapala, either brown trout or black and silver pattern, big browns love them..One can catch alot of fish on a martin spinner, but the big fish go after the bigger bait..
I like good old “Uncle Martin”, aka Panther Martin spinners. Size varies from # 2 = 1/16 & # 3 = 1/8oz.. Have bout’ 20 of them in different colors, but gold blade with black body/gold spots, seems ta’ do the trick for me. “Trout On” …
Rooster tail by all means if you’re using regular fishing methods. But undoubtedly the best lure with the best fishing method is flies and fly fishing!
I would use the hydra fishing lure, its like no other and it comes in a verity of sizes.

Time and time again a rooster tail never fails.
I would pick a rooster tail, but I see some other guys like Panther Martin which I’ve never tried. I would go with one of the two.
Good luck fishing!
